Not Afraid to Be Healthy

Are you a senior having difficulty affording your medication? Are you without health insurance and don't have a doctor or clinic? Do you know that many illnesses can be easily treated if discovered early? Don't wait until it's an emergency.

SECOM's Not Afraid to Be Healthy program, funded in part by Spectrum Health, is designed for low income individuals in Kent County. SECOM connects individuals without health insurance or a medical provider to a
clinic where they can receive a free check-up. We even provide a $10 gift card to all participants who are referred to a doctor and bring back proof of their check-up!

While investigating their symptoms, some of the program's participants have found that they have underlying health problems such as high blood pressure or pre-diabetes. With the help of their doctor and free or reduced-priced medication, they are able to manage their health.

If you are a low income senior, our Health Coordinator may be able to refer you to a prescription assistance program. Our staff is helpful in contacting agencies to verify your eligibility and in helping you to complete necessary paperwork. We have Spanish speaking assistance.

Contact us if you have a health problem and have low income.
